Opportunities NB—NB Proud Awards 2026

The NB Proud Awards are a financial award provided to students graduating from a New Brunswick high school AND attending a New Brunswick post-secondary institution. This year, five $2,000 awards will be presented across the five economic regions of New Brunswick (Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest, and Central).

Who can apply—Any grade 12 New Brunswick high school student planning to pursue their post-secondary education in New Brunswick.

How to apply—Students are given a task that tests their creativity and demonstrates their commitment to building a stronger and more vibrant province.

Provincial Artisans Bursary

The Provincial Artisans Bursary is available to students with disabilities who are residing in New Brunswick and attending a post-secondary institution.

Provincial Artisans (Fredericton) Inc. has agreed to provide the capital to fund several bursaries to aid disadvantaged students who are either entering or already attending an institution offering post-secondary education. Historically, individual bursaries have ranged from $500 to $3,000.

Criteria

Those eligible to apply are:

  • Students with exceptionalities (i.e. physical, mental, or sensory disability, or learning challenges)
  • Either entering or already attending a university or another institution offering post-secondary education
  • Resident of New Brunswick
  • Extent of their disability
  • Academic Performance
  • Academic dedication
  • Financial need
  • Community Involvement

The decisions of the Bursary Committee will be based on:

  • Accommodations or modifications are currently provided
  • Prior academic performance

Notification to successful candidates is by June 30th of the current year, with cheques being sent upon receipt of confirmation from the educational institution that tuition has been paid.

Greater Miramichi Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Must be registered as a full-time student in a first-year program of a post-secondary school by September following the school year of applications

Must provide an official document from their academic institution confirming that they are accepted for the following academic year and indicating that a diploma or degree is underway

Must have sponsorship from an educator that knows the applicant at the same school (secondary school), and a reference letter from him/her

Must include a motivational letter outlining your reasons for application, your goals, and relevant background

Must provide an up-to-date transcript of their academic records.

Must submit a resume.

$1000 will be awarded to one student in the Greater Miramichi Region

The funding for this scholarship will result from the revenue of Chamber sponsored events and membership fees.

Presentation of the scholarship is usually awarded at the recipient’s high school graduation ceremony by a Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee member. Payment will be presented to the recipient once they have received confirmation of enrollment for their second semester of post-secondary education.

Payment for the student will be arranged by the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce at the beginning of the recipient’s second semester of post-secondary education.

All applications will come straight to the Chamber of Commerce; the Selection Committee will choose the final recipient. Criteria for selection may include an interview between the applicant and the selection committee.

Rick and Amanda Hansen Scholarship for Youth with Disabilities

Rick and Amanda Hansen believe that people of all abilities should have the right to a barrier-free education. The Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship for Youth with Disabilities, funded generously by the April 1 Foundation, provides financial support to Canadian youth with disabilities to pursue post-secondary education.

This scholarship aims to make a profound impact on the lives of Canadian youth with disabilities by removing financial barriers and supporting career aspirations through post-secondary education.

Funding of up to $10,000 per year (up to a maximum of $40,000) is available for youth with disabilities looking to complete a 1- to 4-year post-secondary program at a publicly funded institution in Canada. 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:

  • A person with a disability, defined as a functional limitation – whether permanent or episodic in nature—that, when interacting with barriers, results in a restriction of full and equal participation.
  • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • Eligible for domestic tuition at a publicly funded post-secondary institution or training program at a public university, college or institute in Canada.
  • Under 30 years old as of May 15, 2026.
  • Enrolling full-time in the eligible academic year for a 1- to 4-year post-secondary program.
  • Enrolling in a publicly funded Canadian institution.
  • Not receiving other financial awards that total more than $2,500 per year (excluding student loans).  
  • Responsible for informing themselves how any funding received from the Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship will affect the status of any benefits and subsidies that they are eligible for. 

Applicants must not be:

  • Employees, volunteers, and board of directors of RHF (“RHF Personnel”), spouses and children of RHF Personnel;
  • A previous recipient of the Rick and Amanda Hansen Scholarship for Youth with Disabilities.

Application Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated using the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate alignment with Rick & Amanda Hansen’s values of perseverance, inclusivity and being a difference maker;
  • Clarity of career goals and alignment with the chosen academic program;
  • Ability to successfully complete the chosen academic program; and
  • Financial necessity of the scholarship.
