Miramichi Valley High School’s Adopt a Family Program Delivers Holiday Cheer

Added Feb 27, 2025

The holiday season is often a time for giving, and this year, the students and community of Miramichi Valley High School exemplified the true spirit of generosity through their Adopt A Family program. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of students, local businesses, and community partners, three families experienced a brighter, more joyful holiday season.

The program, which has run for 26 years aims to provide gifts and groceries to families in need during the Christmas season.

One of the keys to the success of the Adopt A Family program is the way it brings together students and local businesses. River Hoops, the Miramichi Timberwolves, and Sunny Corner Enterprises all contributed to the Adopt A Family program this year. Their generous contributions helped fund the purchases that would make the season a little brighter for local families.

The MVHS students took on the task of shopping for each of the families. Armed with lists of needs and wishes, students purchased everything from groceries to toys, clothing, and household items. Once the shopping was complete, students gathered to wrap the gifts.

On the last day before Christmas break, a school bus was packed full of presents and groceries and students sang their way through the streets of Miramichi.

For MVHS students, the Adopt A Family program is more than just an annual tradition; it’s an opportunity to give back to the community that supports them year-round. Whether it’s through donating their time, energy, or resources, the students of Miramichi Valley High School continue to prove that the true meaning of the holiday season isn’t about what you receive, but what you give.
