Note: In selecting the candidate, emphasis will be placed on the following criteria:

1. Active in the Roman Catholic faith at St. Michael’s Basilica
2. Financial need
3. Satisfactory scholastic achievement

High School Graduates who are sons, daughters, grandsons or granddaughters of members (or deceased members) of Fr. B.M. Broderick Council 1219 (Chatham); and who are planning to attend University, College or Community College may apply.

Please enclose the following documentation:

• Proof of acceptance from Post-Secondary Institution;
• Transcript of final (or most recent) grades;
• Resume of school-related and other employment, activities and achievements;
• A letter of reference from a teacher or principal;
• A letter of reference from an employer OR extra-curricular activity supervisor from outside the school community;
• Evidence of financial need;

Eligibility In order to be eligible for a NSNBR Heritage Foundation Educational Bursary, you must be a serving, former or retired member of the Regiment or their spouse, child, grandchild, greatgrandchild, nephew, niece, grandnephew, grandniece, great-grandnephew, great-grandniece, or a member of a NSNBR Cadet Corps. 

Must be registered as a full-time student in a first-year program of a post-secondary school at the time of application. 

Must provide an official document from their academic institution confirming that they are accepted for the following academic year and indicating that a diploma or degree is underway.

Must have sponsorship from an educator that knows the applicant at the same school (secondary school), and a reference letter from him/her.

Must include a personal motivational letter outlining your reasons for application, your goals, and relevant background (no more than one page single spaced). 

Must provide an up-to-date transcript of their academic records. 

Must submit a resume.

Deadline for application submission through the Association website will be no later than May 3rd, 2026, at 17h00. Application submitted after this deadline will not be accepted.

The City of Miramichi Inside Workers CUPE Local 3863 has (1) bursary valued at $1000.00 in memory of John James Bryenton. The bursary is for the students’ first year attendance at any university, college, or community college. Preference will be given to sons and daughters or legal wards of members of CUPE Local 3863. 

Basis of award is marks, aptitude, promise and financial need. 

Application forms are available from members of the Education Committee of Local 3863 or your high school guidance counsellor. The application must be returned to the Education Committee of Local 3863 no later than May 1, 2026.

Successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible. The cheque will be awarded upon verification of attendance at the university, college or community college.
