CUPE Local 2745 Scholarship

One scholarship per region valued at $2000 each are available annually for full time attendance at a Post-Secondary Institution Those eligible are:

1. Union members in good standing with CUPE Local 2745

2. Sons, daughters or legal wards of members in good standing of CUPE Local 2745 Documentation may be requested

Basis of awards: Consideration will be given to reflection paper, marks, financial need and aptitude.

IMPORTANT

The following criteria must be adhered to:

• The application form must be complete and signed by the applicant and the Regional Vice President or one of the Zone Shop Stewards in the region

• Acceptance letter for the present year

• Self Reflection Paper

• Last official transcript of marks signed, dated and/or stamped for high school students and official transcript of marks for Post Secondary students

• Current reference letter from a non-relative e.g., – coach, pastor, principal, etc. (2025- 2026)

The successful candidates will be contacted by early June.

Chatham Head Recreation & Community Centre Bursary

Value:  $1,000.00             

Recipient will be selected by:  Committee (Chatham Head)

Eligibility:

  • Open to graduates of James M. Hill and MVHS
  • Going into post-secondary education that is one year or longer
  • Must have ties to Chatham Head or the Community Centre
  • Primary consideration given to financial need
  • Secondary consideration given to academic achievement and/or Volunteer Experience

When applying for this bursary, you must include supporting information on the above five conditions of eligibility (ie: a letter or resume).

Lee Johnson Ltd. Scholarship

Lee Johnston Ltd. is offering a $250 scholarship to a grade 12 student in good academic standing, who has been accepted into a forestry program.  Preference will be given to Forestry Students.

Applications must include:

  1. Completed Application
  2. Transcript of Marks
  3. Essay – 250 Words

Completed applications must be returned to Miramichi Valley High School Main Office by 3pm on May 22nd, 2026 for consideration.  Prior to selection, applicants will have an interview with Lee Johnston.

Knights of Columbus-Father Michael Egan Council 8381 Jean Richard Bursary

RULES AND CONDITIONS THAT APPLY TO THE JEAN RICHARD SCHOLARSHIP

  1. To be eligible to apply for the Jean Richard Scholarship, a candidate must meet one of the following conditions:
  1. A member in good standing of Council 8381; or
  • The spouse of a member in good standing of Council 8381; or
  • The son or daughter of a member in good standing of Council 8381; or
  • The spouse of a deceased member who was in good standing of Council 8381 at time of death; or
  • The son or daughter of a deceased member who was in good standing of Council 8381 at time of death; or
  • The Grandchild of a member in good standing of Council 8381; or
  • The Grandchild of a deceased member who was in good standing of Council 8381 at time of death.
  • In the event there are no successful applications from the categories listed in paragraph 1 above, applications

shall be considered from previous applicants:

  1. Saint Patrick’s;
  • Most Pure Heart of Mary; and
  • Saint Edward’s Mission.
  • All applicants for this bursary MUST have applied at a recognized university, college or post-secondary

education institution.

  • At least one bursary valued at $500.00 will be awarded annually by Council 8381.
  • The bursary will be awarded only with proof of enrolment at a post-secondary educational institution and

shall be paid directly to the bursary winner or the institution enrolled into at the beginning of the second semester.

  • Applicants MUST attach an official transcript of marks of the last THREE years of High School and/or post-

secondary educational institute attended.

  • This bursary will be awarded on the following basis:
  1. Scholastic achievement of the applicant; and
  • The applicant’s leadership abilities.
  • All application MUST be accompanied with a RESUME and an Autobiographical Statement that describes the applicant’s educational objectives, church activities, extracurricular activities and community involvement.
